Pride in diversity
"When you reduce life to black and white, you never see rainbows."
This is pride month and we set out to investigate if businesses are truly gender-inclusive? We took a sample of job descriptions from deep-tech businesses as they are expected to be a bit more progressive. Turns out that new-age tech businesses are doing well on the gender index. They largely use gender-neutral language while hiring.
But, we still have ways to go. Companies still use 'he' quite a bit while describing job responsibilities. It's discriminatory not just to LGBTQIA candidates, it's discriminatory to women as well! If new-age businesses are not fully there yet, what can we expect from more traditional businesses? Time for HR professionals to wake up and smell the change!
